I AUNew250Z BERG'S GARAGE 4760 State Road 64 St Anthony 812 326 2581 6 a REPORTS Indiana State Police OWI felony On ebruary 22 police stopped a 1982 Toyota driven by Brendan Verkamp 29 of Schnellville for a traffic violation on East Schnellville Road The officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle and after failing a breath test Verkamp was arrested and charged with OWI felony due to a prior conviction within the past five years ifteen arrested in raid On riday ebruary 24 Indiana State Police Dubois County Department and Jasper Police officers went to the Thomas Breitwieser residence at 359 CR 400 in reference to a report of underage drinking ifteen people between the ages of 18 and 20 years were incarcerated in the Dubois County Security Center Eleven juveniles were released to their par ents after being charged with minor consuming alcohol our suspects were additionally charged with resisting law enforce ment Breitwieser was charged with contributing to the delin quency of minors Marijuana possession Police stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction near the 62 mile marker on westbound 1 64 and found the occupants were in possession of marijuana The driver Mildred Oliver 19 of Crestwood KY was charged with OWI (drugs) possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana A passenger Katie Moore 19 also of Crestwood KY was charged with possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana Both were incarcerated in the Dubois County Security Center The incident occurred on riday ebruary 24 Warrant service On Sunday ebruary 26 Indiana State Police along with Jasper Police located two suspects who were staying at the Camelot Inn Michael Marks 32 was arrested on outstand ing warrants issued from Knox County for dealing in cocaine (two counts class felonies) and contempt of court Julie Brooks 30 was also wanted in Knox County for check decep tion (class A misdemeanor) and contempt of court Both were arrested without incident and incarcerated in the Dubois County Security Center Dubois County Sheriff Rear end collision Toby Oser 30 of erdinand was stopped in traffic in the northbound lane of SR 162 just south ofSR 64 when ord 150 wa? struck from behind by a 1998 Toyota Sienna driven by Juan Nunez 32 of Huntingburg There was an estimated $3000 damage to vehicle and $5000 to in the 6:40 am ebruary 21 accident Nunez was cited for speed too fast to avoid a collision Two juveniles hurt in one vehicle crash At approximately 1:43 am on Saturday ebruary 25 police received a report of a possible crash on SR 164 just east of SR 545 Responding agencies located a 2001 Toyota pickup par tially blocking the eastbound lane of SR 164 and partially in a ditch Two juvenile males suffering from head injuries were inside the vehicle They were transported to Memorial Hospi tal According to police the pickup was apparently eastbound on SR 164 when the driver a 17 year old boy lost control of the vehicle in a curve The pickup traveled off the south side of the roadway struck an earthen embankment spun and flipped onto its side slid then flipped back onto its wheels As the investigation continued police located a beer can under the seat of the accident vehicle and two full beer cans smeared with blood in a nearby field Police also said the driver and passen ger smelled of an alcoholic beverage The 17 year old driver was subsequently charged with OWI causing serious bodily injury (a class felony) and speed too fast to avoid a collision The 15 year old male passenger was charged with minor consuming alcohol Both were released to their parents The vehicle was totaled Celestine irst Responders and St EMS assisted at the scene Turning accident Glenda Linne 34 of Cuzco was attempting a left turn onto SR 56 from a private drive east of SR 545 She failed to notice a westbound 1995 GMC Jimmy driven by William Qualkenbush Jr 58 of rench Lick and pulled her 1999 Jeep Cherokee into its path The impact pushed vehicle off the south side of the roadway where it struck a guardrail before coming to rest Linne was transported to Memorial Hospital for treatment of pain to her left side Qualkenbush suffered bruising to his right arm and knee but refused medical treatment at the scene Both vehicles were totaled Linne was cited for failure to yield Dubois irst Re sponders and Memorial EMS assisted at the scene of the 3:25 pm ebruary 26 accident One vehicle accident leads to arrest James Thompson 38 of Jasper was eastbound on SR 164 when his 1994 ord Ranger veered left of center traveled off the south side of the roadway struck a highway mile marker sign post then continued through a yard striking a ditch and a culvert at the entrance to St Celestine Catholic Church Th ompson was treated for minor facial contusions at Memorial Hospital and with a BACof 29 was released into the custody of the Department He was subsequently incarcerated in the Dubois County Security Center charged with OWI driving left of center possession of a handgun without a valid permit and possession of drug paraphernalia Celestine irst Responders and Memorial EMS assisted at the scene erdinand Police A' Y' og blamed At approximately 7:15 am on Thursday ebruary 23 Albert Krampe 71 of erdinand was attempting to turn his 1996 Toyota Camry right onto 10th Street from Main Street but due to heavy fog misjudged his turn and turned too sharply striking a state road sign Krampe was not injured nor cited St Anthony ire Dept Chimney fire At 6 pm riday ebruary 24 St Anthony firefighters were called to the Ron Schnell residence two miles east of St Anthony on SR 64 to a reported chimney fire The arriving 15 firefighters and two trucks discovered a flue fire which thy extinguished then cleaned the flue The fire reported by a passerby caused no damage to the home irefighters remained at the scene for one hour?
